Subject: USA Water Polo 2008 Membership
Update
Dear Club Administrators:
As we approach a new year, an
Olympic year, USA Water Polo would like to share changes to our membership
offers and pricing with you in advance.. Among the notable changes:
Regular Memberships
- An
$10 increase in basic athlete dues ($70)
- A
$25 increase in 3-year athlete dues ($175)
- A
$5 increase in seasonal athlete dues ($40)
- A
$5 increase in associate membership dues ($25)
- The
"Special Need" membership, formally known as the "Hardship" membership will be
reduced by $5 and will have all the benefits of a "Basic Athlete" membership
($25). (A federal school lunch
card or similar proof is required to activate this membership.)
- A
seasonal athlete membership is a span of 3 months, but will no longer entitle
a seasonal member to compete in USA Water Polo national championships or
qualifying events for those championships
- There
will no longer be a $5 "processing fee" when registering online
- There
will be a $5 processing fee per registration for all paper forms mailed or
faxed into the national office
- Coach
and referee memberships will not increase in cost. It is our hope, granted all that our
coaches and officials do for our sport, to keep these costs from increasing in
the future as well.
New
Memberships
- A
new "College/Young Professional" athlete will be available to those between
the ages of 19-24 for $35
- A
new "Parent Booster" membership will be available for $25; this membership
entitles the holder to a 20% discount at national championship
events
- A
revised version of the "Trial" athlete membership will be instituted. This
membership is a one-time only, one-week membership at no charge, but must be
completed in ADVANCE of competition for insurance to become valid. This membership is valid for training
only-not competitive tournament play, including any USA Water Polo sanctioned
event. It is our hope that this
incentive may encourage more people to sample our sport.
Eligibility Changes
- In
order to participate in any national championship event, one must hold a basic
athlete, 3 year athlete or coach membership. No seasonal members will be
allowed to participate in national championship events.
- We
have made a special effort this year to encourage members to renew for 2008
prior to January 1, when they are eligible for 2007 pricing.
*Keep
in mind that if a member holds a current seasonal membership, our new web system
will allow them to login to their account and "upgrade" that membership, paying
just the difference. Note that a lapsed membership cannot be
upgraded.
If you have any questions regarding our new
membership policies, please contact Drew Willems at membership@usawaterpolo.org
Thank you for all that you do for our
sport.,
